FBI Sketch of John Doe #1

Why do you think a sketch like this would be important to an investigation?

When investigators were led to Elliott’s Body Shop in Kansas, where the bomb truck was rented, FBI sketch artist Ray Rozycki flew overnight in a private plane to take witness statements. An employee described in detail a man that rented the truck under the name Robert Kling, soon discovered to be an alias.

The sketch connected Timothy McVeigh to the alias when John Doe #1 was recognized by the owner of the Dreamland Motel, where McVeigh stayed days before the bombing. This break in the case lead to McVeigh being labeled the prime suspect in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and the murder of 168 innocent lives.
