Catholic Wall Hang

Zoom in Zoom out Home Full page

This fabric wall hanging was made by students of St. Catherine’s Catholic School in Middlesex, England, and presented to Admiral William Crowe, United States ambassador to the United Kingdom (1994-97). He presented it to the people of Oklahoma in a ceremony on July 3, 1995, then handed it to Governor Keating. The wall hanging was created with a lot of intentional symbolism. The blue sky represents the color of heaven. The doves symbolize peace. The sun represents God. The tree symbolizes the cross. The color green is for growth. The color brown is for humility. The butterflies are for children lost. The poppies represent the people lost.
