Survivor Tree – Looking Forward

Zoom in Zoom out Home Full page

Today, the Survivor Tree stands at the highest point of the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial as a symbol of strength and hope. It is the iconic image in the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum logo. Choirs, military ceremonies, and visitors from around the world sit under its enveloping canopy.

Around the inner section of the promontory that surrounds the tree it reads, “The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated, our deeply rooted faith sustains us.” Those words were spoken by Reverend Billy Graham at the prayer service just after the bombing. These words couldn’t be more true, and are as important today as they were 25 years ago.
