When tragic events occur, it is hard to find hope. The space where violence occurs takes on a new, overbearing air of grief and sorrow. Through the pieces preserved by the Memorial, the Survivor Wall and the Outdoor Memorial, some of those feelings have been fashioned into symbols of hope. Similarly, the angel below left on the Fence was handmade by the women of the First United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City–the church that sits just east of the Memorial. In the middle is a piece of stained glass from their church windows that were destroyed in the bombing. This handmade item of faith not only holds the sentiment of those who made it, but the courage of all affected by the tragedy.
