Honoring Those Impacted Most

Why was it important for law enforcement to consider those impacted most throughout the investigation?

Throughout the investigation, the families of those killed, survivors, and first responders remained on the minds of investigators and legal teams. The enormous responsibility to honor them was felt by all who were tasked with bringing the perpetrators to justice.

In this video, a survivor and federal agent as well as a federal prosecutor help us understand how the investigation reflected and honored the collective emotions of a community that bore witness to the murder of 168 of its own.
