USAR Sacramento Patch

2000

In the wake of the bombing, FEMA activated 11 of its Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces. One of those was California Task Force 7, a search and rescue team made up of Sacramento firefighters and other professionals.

California Task Force 7 was one of the hundreds of teams that poured in to help in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing. Christopher Reilly, who left this Sacramento USAR patch on the Fence, was part of the task force at that time. He returned in 2000, as the patch notes, “to remember them.” Just as the 9:03 gate symbolizes, the work that began in the mere moments after the bombing created a community of shared healing, care and kindness that reaches far beyond Oklahoma and remains with us far beyond April 19, 1995. We are grateful for first responders like Christopher Reilly, who not only risked their lives to help others, but who help us remember and heal from the impact of violence.
