In February of 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine, escalating a conflict that began in 2014. War casualties are hard to calculate, but estimates suggest hundreds of thousands of people have died or been injured since the invasion began. Many have been civilians.

The impacts of war and violence stretch in every direction, and the Memorial stands with all those affected by wars, violence and humanitarian crises everywhere.

This was left on the Fence by the family of Reverend Gilbert X. Martinez, who was killed in the bombing.
