Teacher Free Days

Teachers are invited to tour the Museum for FREE! This is a great opportunity to learn about programs and resources to teach this important event in history.

Guided Museum Tour
9:00am – 10:00am

National Park Service at the Survivor Tree

Gather in the shade of the Survivor Tree to hear interpretive presentations by National Park Service Rangers on the symbolism and significance of the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial.

This event will begin during the following times:

  • 11:00am
  • 1:00pm
  • 3:00pm

If you miss one of the scheduled times, Park Rangers are available throughout the day on the Memorial grounds.

 

National Park Service Junior Ranger Program
1:00pm – 4:00pm

Explore. Learn. Protect. The NPS Junior Ranger program is an activity-based program. Complete a series of activities during the park visit, share your answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger patch and certificate. Junior Rangers are typically between the ages of 5-13, although people of all ages can participate for FREE. This event is located just outside the Museum entrance at the Outdoor Children’s Area.

EYEwitness Tour – Donna Weaver McGinty
4:30pm – 6:00pm

Donna Weaver McGinty was at work in her office at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, located just two blocks north of the Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995. She was among the first people at the scene of the bombing, which killed her husband, Mike Weaver, an attorney for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Weaver McGinty was a witness in the federal trial of Timothy McVeigh.

Family STEM Night – Forensic Science
4:00pm – 6:00pm

Bring your family to learn how forensic science was used in the investigation to seek justice and honor those impacted by the bombing. Play the role of an investigator following the trail of evidence in 1995 in the Uncover-Discover STEM Lab on large interactive touch screen tables, and then learn techniques used today with experts from the UCO Forensic Science Institute. Experience the Museum on a private tour through the personal account of OKC Fire Chief Richard Kelley, who responded on April 19, 1995 as a young Corporal and worked a total of 11 days on the rescue and recovery efforts. This is a special ticketed event.
