Join the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum and Law Focused Education for a deeper look at the United States founding documents and constitutional principles. Guided by scholars and practitioners and supported by facilitators with real classroom experience, participants will apply these foundational documents and principles to what democracy looks like today and the practical challenges we face. Let’s build a foundation to strengthen our civic health on sacred ground where we saw firsthand in 1995 the impact of political violence.
Scholar-led sessions will include:
- Constitutional Interpretation and Democratic Tensions
- Representation Is Complicated
- Information Forensics: Journalism, Media Literacy, and AI
In consultant-led sessions educators will engage in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and explore curated educational resources tailored to the scholars’ topics. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with practical classroom ready strategies and new tools to inspire and engage their students.
Target Audience: 8th grade and high school US History and Government teachers.
Cost: Free (lunch will be provided)
Funding for substitutes is available, and participants will receive access to all instructional materials upon completion of the institute.
