Join us on the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial for a special morning double-feature story time under the shade of the Survivor Tree!
Author of the award-winning children’s book The Survivor Tree, Gaye Sanders will read her story about the American Elm that became a symbol of hope and strength after it survived the bombing on April 19, 1995. Today, it sits atop the Oklahoma City National Memorial to inspire all who come to remember.
A Park Ranger with the National Park Service will also read Love Won: The Oklahoma Standard by former governor and first lady Cathy and Frank Keating. This story about the loving response by the community and the messages of sympathy, encouragement, and hope that came from all over the country and the world in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing is a reminder that good can come from even the worst tragedies.
Gaye Sanders will sign copies of her book following the reading, and copies of Cathy and Frank Keating’s book are available in the Memorial store. This event is FREE for all.
