Phillip Thompson lost his mother Virginia on April 19, 1995 in the Oklahoma City bombing. Phillip worked for Kerr-McGee Corporation and was one of the original Co-Chairs of the Family, Survivor and Rescue Worker committee. He helped guide the process of creating the Memorial and Museum through monthly meetings with the key stakeholder group.

Phillip served on number committees and was on the final selection committee of choosing the design for the Memorial. May this memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity is the last line of the Memorial Mission Statement preamble. Phillip suggested we add the word “hope” in the Mission Statement as the committee was working on it so that the Memorial would always be about Remembrance and looking forward to educating about the senselessness of violence.

Phillip and his wife Susan have two daughters Vanessa and Desiree and make their home in the Houston area.
