A Cross-Generational Better Conversation
The Mission Statement of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum calls for us to understand the senselessness of violence, especially as a means of effecting government change. Nearly 30 years later, the Memorial stands as a poignant reminder of the impact of violence and the imperative to reject it.
Peaceful, democratic processes is the best solution to affect change. However, this election season is marred by assassination attempts, divisive rhetoric, and concerns about the resilience of our democratic institutions. National discourse is highly polarized with extreme views on violence finding traction in the mainstream and voter anxiety spiking.
We need to have Better Conversations – a chance to come together to depoliticize the discussion. Members of several generations will gather to share their perspective and seek common ground in this special lunchtime session moderated by Mike Turpen, former Memorial Board Chair, co-host of Flashpoint, and Oklahoma Hall of Famer. He will be joined by special guests, including Albert Ashwood, who responded to the bombing with the Dept. of Emergency Management and lost his sister-in-law Susan Ferrell in the bombing.
Boxed lunch is provided. This is a FREE event thanks to the Kirkpatrick Foundation, but registration is required. Reserve your spot today.
