We will launch the Journey of Hope at Deer Creek Middle School in Oklahoma County! Students will hear from Cheryl Baldwin Taylor, who was a teacher at Deer Creek Middle School in April of 1995. She will explain how Deer Creek Middle School tenderly responded to the Oklahoma City bombing by writing poems and letters of support to rescue workers helping with recovery. Legislators representing Oklahoma County have been invited to this event and we will be honoring first responders with the Deer Creek Fire Department and the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department who responded on April 19, 1995. Following the assembly, the Oklahoma Forestry Service and Department of Agriculture will help us plant a Survivor Tree sapling at the school!
