Join us for a very special art contest. Art was a source of comfort in the aftermath of the bombing as children from across the world sent messages of compassion to Oklahoma City in the form of letters, drawings, origami, and various other art projects. In honor of these small but powerful gestures, the Children’s Area in front of the Memorial and Museum includes slate blocks for guests to leave their own messages.
This contest is open to children of all ages and their families. Entries may be the work of a single child or a collaborative effort by an entire family (one entry per family please). Only chalk may be used. The competition will open at 9:00am. Entries will be judged by Memorial and Museum staff based on the emotions evoked and how well the art reflects the Memorial Mission Statement. The contest will close at 4:00pm and prizes will be awarded at 4:30 in the Children’s Area.
Registration is required. There are only 13 entry slots, one for each slate block, so sign-up now! Entry is FREE, but families are encouraged to check out the Museum and our other special Fall Break events.
