It is hard to escape the division and inflammatory rhetoric that has invaded our social and political spaces, and the latest tragic act of political violence is a stark reminder of the toll on our peace. Yet, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is dedicated to remembering a different story—the one where, in 1995, our community chose service, honor, and kindness in the face of immense tragedy. The Oklahoma Standard was a choice to define ourselves not by hate, but by our shared humanity.

Join us for a reset. This FREE special lunchtime Better Conversations session will explore the legacy of the Oklahoma Standard and what is and isn’t working. We will begin by hearing from Rev. Wendy Lambert, who will share her story of finding her life’s purpose in spreading kindness after losing her father in the bombing, and Tara O’Connell, who is bringing the Oklahoma Standard to tomorrow’s leaders. Following their talk, the conversation will continue at your table, where you’ll have the opportunity to engage with fellow community members and share your own ideas on this vital question.

  • Rev. Wendy Lambert, Senior Executive Pastor at St. Luke’s Methodist Church
  • Tara O’Connell, Executive Director of Teen Leadership Initiatives at YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City

Register to reserve your seat and a complimentary boxed lunch, available at 11:30am when the doors open. The program will run from 12:00pm – 1:00pm.

Made possible by the Kirkpatrick Foundation.
