Teaching the Story 30 Years Later – Educator Workshop
Jul
30
Tuesday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
620 N Harvey Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102

Join us July 30th at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum for an impactful teacher workshop designed for educators of all levels. As we approach the 30th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, this workshop will provide valuable resources, frameworks, and strategies for teaching this pivotal event. Hear powerful insights and hopeful stories from those who experienced the tragedy firsthand and those who have worked to preserve their stories since as we look at the lessons we’ve learned in the last three decades.

This workshop will equip you with the tools to impart lessons of strength, resilience, and community to your students at a time when these lessons are just as relevant as ever.

We will explore pressing challenges as a new school-year looms:

  • Encourage interest in STEM without leaving civics and the humanities behind.
  • Have Better Conversations about important topics amidst a politically charged landscape.
  • Teach with artifacts in a way that encourages thinking but guards against misunderstanding and conspiracy.
  • Empower our students to live up to the tenets of the Oklahoma Standard – service, honor, and kindness – demonstrated in response to the bombing in 1995 and still needed in schools today.
